More about scanning for the NSD

In order to understand the instructions on this page it is recommended that you first read how to use the inquisitor.

If you were looking to scan for stocks where there are more buyers in the market than sellers, you would follow these steps:

Step 1: Open the Inquisitor window.

Step 2: Click 'Add Rule' on the left of the window.

Step 3: Click the 'NSD' tab

Step 4: Scroll to the bottom and click: NSD[DLY](Nbr, All Levels)

Step 5: In the rule editor at the top make sure the operator is 'above'

Step 6: Then, in the rule editor at the top, click on the last part of the rule and change the number to 1.

Step 7: Then combine this rule with another rule to scan for only 'ordinary shares' which you'll find under the 'Type' tab.

Alternatives:

If you wanted to scan for when there is twice as many buyers than sellers, you would change the number from 1 to 2.

If you wanted to scan for when there is half as many buyers than sellers, you would change the number from 1 to 0.5.

If you wanted to scan for number of bid shares/ ask shares, as opposed to number of buyers/ sellers change the initial filter to NSD[DLY](Quantity, All Levels).

If you only wanted to look at the top 8 levels, or top 5 levels of the market depth as opposed to 'all levels' change the filter to:

NSD[DLY](Quantity, 8 Levels) ...for number of bid shares/ sell shares in top 8 levels
NSD[DLY](Nbr, 8 Levels) ...for number of buyers/ sellers in top 8 levels

or

NSD[DLY](Quantity, 5 Levels) ...for number of bid shares/ sell shares in top 5 levels
NSD[DLY](Nbr, 5 Levels) ...for number of buyers/ sellers in top 5 levels
